Saint Patrick's Day - kilka ciekawostek

Dziś Dzień Świętego Patryka, patrona fryzjerów, kowali, bednarzy, górników, upadłych na duchu, inżynierów oraz za opiekuna zwierząt domowych.

Rok temu miałam okazję opowiedzieć Wam o świętym Patryku. Dzień Świętego Patyka 2015

W tym roku mam dla Was inną propozycję. A mianowicie kilka irlandzkich przysłów wraz z ich znaczeniami oraz przemycę Wam troszkę języka irlandzkiego. A to wszystko w formie zagadek :)

Na początek coś łatwego, a mianowicie irlandzkie liczebniki do 10. Jesteście w stanie odgadnąć jaki angielski liczebnik kryje się pod tymi słowami?

Język irlandzki, zwany także językiem iryjskim wywodzi się z grupy goidelskiej języków celtyckich. Jest językiem narodowym Irlandczyków i został uznany - obok języka angielskiego - językiem urzędowym w niepodległej Irlandii. Blisko 1,77 miliona Irlandczyków deklaruje, że zna podstawy swojego języka narodowego. Natomiast około 77 000 osób, używa go na co dzień. 

Z języka irlandzkiego pochodzi wiele nazw miejscowości irlandzkich, np.:
          Belfast – Béal Feirste  zatoka piaszczystych brzegów
          Cork – Corcaigh  bagno
          Ennis – Inis  wyspa

Alfabet irlandzki też wygląda nieco inaczej niż angielski. Przede wszystkim dlatego, że nie ma w nim wszystkich liter. Niektóre z nich są używane bardzo rzadko, wyłącznie w terminach naukowych i wyrazach zapożyczonych w niedalekiej przeszłości.  
Obecnie oryginalny irlandzki alfabet używany jest sporadycznie. 

Taki mały przerywnik. Czas na kolejną zagadkę :)


Poniżej podane jest 9 irlandzkich przysłów i powiedzeń. Waszym zadaniem jest dopasować każde z tych przysłów do jego znaczenia, które podane jest poniżej. 


     1 - Better good manners than good looks.
     2 - A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures.
     3 - A good start is half of the work. 
     4 - Where the tongue slips, it speaks the truth.
     5 - Lose an hour in the morning and you'll be looking for it all day.
     6 - Do not change your horse when you are about to cross a river. 
     7 - A good word never broke a tooth.
     8 - If you buy what you don't need you might have to sell what you do.
     9 - It's not a secret if three people know it. 

     a -  It's better to get up early.
     b - You should spend money carefully.
     c - I doesn't hurt to pay compliments.
     d - Being kind is more important then apperance.
     e - If you say something different from what you wanted to say, what you says shows what you really think.
     f - Being optimistic and sleeping enough wil keep you in good health.
     g - If you want to keep something secret, only tell it to one person.
     h - Do not change the strategy in the middle of the task. 
     i - If you have a successful beginning, the rest of the task will be easy.
